ABOUT US

The City of Fincastle is nestled in the east end of Louisville, between Westport Road and Highway 22. This charming neighborhood is close to many restaurants and shopping centers. We are a Home Rule city operating under the Commission Plan. The City Commission is composed of an elected Mayor and four elected Commissioners. Additionally, the city is supported by a non-elected Treasurer/Clerk. Fincastle was incorporated on January 25, 1974. The name Fincastle is a historical relic from the formation of Kentucky County, Virginia. This county was the precursor to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was formed from Fincastle County, Virginia, in 1776. Fincastle County, Virginia was created in 1772 from Botetourt County, Virginia, at the time Botetourt County’s boundaries extended all the way to the Mississippi River. Fincastle, Virginia is the county seat of Botetourt County, Virginia. Fincastle, Virginia was named for Lord Fincastle.

City Gazebo Rental - For Residence of Fincastle ONLY

Interested in renting the gazebo at the Fincastle main entrance for gatherings, here's your chance. For residence of Fincastle, you can now rent the gazebo by putting in a $250 fully refundable security deposit. Security deposit must be submitted by Fincastle resident.

Recycling & Yard Waste: Every other MONDAY morning (from Oct 30, 2023)

Trash, Recycling, and yard waste pick up is provided to all residents of the City of Fincastle by Waste Management (WM.com)

Place your carts at least 3 feet apart and 3 feet away from any obstacles (trees, cars, mailboxes, etc.) to allow the automatic arm to lift and empty the carts. Place wheels of cart toward house.

NO materials outside cart will be collected. Over filled carts may lead to an incomplete service.

Reminder: Carts must be at curb the night before or no later than 4:00 a.m.

Section F of Ordinance 1, series 2024

Receptacles for discarded materials and recyclables which are left alongside public roadway before and/or following the day of the regularly scheduled refuse pick-up for the property; no garbage, yard waste or recycling items shall be placed out alongside public street for collection more than 24 hours prior to the collection day. The containers for such items must be removed from any public street within 24 hours after the day of collection. Recyclable items which have not been recycled within 30 days of being deposited on the property which are determined by the City Administrative Officer, or other person or employee as may be designated by the City Commission to enforce city ordinances to constitute a fire hazard or to be detrimental to human life, health or safety.

Snow Removal:

The City of Fincastle has a contractor for snow removal. Cars should be off the street especially during significant chance of snow. It is difficult, if not impossible to complete job if there are cars parked on the street. This is a dangerous situation for them and other residents who may slide on icy roads.
