The City of Fincastle is nestled in the east end of Louisville, between Westport Road and Highway 22. This charming little place is close to many restaurants and shopping centers. We are a Class 6 city with a legislative body composed of a Mayor, Attorney, Treasurer, Secretary and Commissioners.
Fincastle was incorporated on January 25, 1974. The name Fincastle is a historical relic from the formation of Kentucky County, Virginia. This county was the precursor to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was formed from Fincastle County, Virginia, in 1776. Fincastle County, Virginia was created in 1772 from Botetourt County, Virginia, at the time Botetourt County’s boundaries extended all the way to the Mississippi River. Fincastle, Virginia is the county seat of Botetourt County, Virginia. Fincastle, Virginia was named for Lord Fincastle.

Police patrols will be citing people who speed through the city or disregard stop signs. No warnings. Police patrols have been requested at Shenandoah and Halifax between 6:30 – 7:00 am. There have been reports of children challenging cars in the street while waiting for the bus.
City Council Meeting:
Join your City Council each month on the 2nd Thursday, 7:30 PM, at the Hope Lutheran Church located at 4200 Shenandoah Dr.
Trash, recycling, and yard waste pickup is provided to all residents of the City of Fincastle by Waste Management. Trash, recycling, and yard waste picked occur Thursday morning of each week.
To request a green garbage container, please contact Waste Management, let them know you are in the City of Fincastle. Their number is 1- 800-607-9509.
The City of Fincastle has a contractor for snow removal. It is difficult, if not impossible, for him to do a good job if there are cars parked on the street. This is a dangerous situation for him, and other residents who may slide on icy roads.
